Did your dreams of seeing Led Zeppelin burst into flames long ago? Here’s your chance to witness the legendary band on stage and for your band to perform at the exclusive after-party in front of 2000 of the music industry’s elite! Ziddio presents “The Dream Gig: Led Zeppelin” contest. If you think your unsigned band is the next heavy hitter, upload a video showing us why. If you win, your band will be flown to London, England via Virgin Atlantic’s award winning premium economy class, receive up to 8 tickets (one per band member) to the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert at London O2 Arena on December 10 and perform at the tribute concert’s VIP after-party! Plus, you’ll also take home nearly $20,000 in equipment from Gibson!
It all starts October 8th. Upload a performance of an original song and on November 19, a panel of judges will decide the top ten performances. These performances will be judged by a separate panel of judges including but not limited to board members of the Ahmet Ertegun Education Trust: Bill Curbishley (manager of Robert Plant The Who, and Judas Priest), Richard Branson (founder of the Virgin Group), promoter Harvey Goldsmith, Phil Carson (Atlantic Records executive responsible for signing AC/DC, Twisted Sister, and Yes) and Taylor Hackford (the director of Ray and many hit movies).
Entries will be judged upon showmanship 25%, commercial accessibility 25%and most importantly, musicianship 50%. One lucky winner will be announced on or about November 27th.
In order to win, all band members must have a valid passport and be able to travel to London to attend the show and perform at the after party. The show and party are on Monday, December 10. Travel dates and times to be determined.
Your file can be submitted in any format but it should not exceed 100MB in size. The original song may be any length but only the first 5 minutes of video will be judged. Adult material will not be able to be viewed by unregistered members of Ziddio, but will remain in the eligible pool of contest entries. Submission period ends November 18th.
Grand Prize (“prize”): A trip for band (up to eight members in total) to attend the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert featuring Led Zeppelin (“Concert”) at the London O2 Arena in London, England, $20,000 in musical equipment provided by Gibson (exact musical equipment to be determined by Gibson) (Maximum Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $37,000), plus the opportunity for the band to perform at the Led Zeppelin Reunion Concert After Party (“Performance”) (tentatively scheduled for 12/10/07, but subject to change).
