This contest is for co-productions of original and creative one-minute/one-shot silent films.  Film historians consider the Grand Café screening by the Lumiere brothers in 1895 to be the true birth of cinema as a commercial medium.  Each film screened was one minute long and consisted of one shot.

The Lumiere brothers shot with a camera called the Cinématographe, a three-in-one device, which shot, developed and projected the moving images. This C4P is homage to the Lumiere brothers’ work.

 ·         The film should be one minute in length and consist of one shot.

·         The film should not have synchronized sound but should be accompanied by an original score and/or voice over (in English or with English subtitles).

·         The video should be a co-production of at least 2 LoftCity members

·         Submitted videos must not be publicly broadcast via TV, mobile, internet or otherwise or commercially exhibited prior to, or during 6 months after the submission deadline (unless approved by LoftCity).

The videos should be up to a maximum of 500 MB.

We accept the following formats: MPG, MPEG, MOV, AVI, ASF, WMV, DIVX, 3GP and FLV.

The video produced for this C4P will be distributed by LoftCity to leading web destination sites and mobile service providers with whom LoftCity has distribution agreements.  LoftCity will pay the filmmakers a percentage of the revenues (50%) generated from the distribution of the video to web destination sites and mobile service providers   

LoftCity will grant $1500 to the video chosen by our jury.

Click here to enter.

1.       Open a “Team” type project.

2.       Use the “Cast & Crew” tool to invite team members to participate in the project.

3.       Produce your video.

4.       The final video should be marked as “Final” in the “Editing Notes” tool.

5.       Submit your video using the “Release” tool by selecting “Submit your film to: Silent Movie C4P”. The video will be submitted to the LoftCity team.

6.       LoftCity will review and publish the video to the “Screening Room” under “Silent Movie C4P” category within 72 hours of submission.

7.       LoftCity will announce the selected video on our site and will contact the creator by email.
