Capture your one in a million dog on video. Edit video to 30 seconds or less and submit by Oct. 31. The grand prize winner will be awarded a trip for two to the Hollywood premiere of Marley & Me. Up to twelve finalists will have portions of their videos shown on National TV and incorporated into the bonus section of the Marley & Me DVD.
Contest offered only in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia to legal residents of the U.S. who own a dog and, at the time of entry, are 18 years of age or older.The submission period ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET on Friday, October 31, 2008.
All videos received within the entry period will be judged by an independent panel of judges based on the following criteria:
- Creativity (humorous and engaging, simple to understand – maximum 10 points)
- Relevance to the “unique, rascally, and one-of-a-kind dog” theme (unique dog behaviors and energetic – maximum 10 points)
- Technical Quality (visually appealing – maximum 5 points)
Using these judging criteria, up to 12 Finalists will be selected and those entries, in original or edited form, will be eligible for posting to the Sponsor’s Contest website for popular voting. See the finalists and vote for your favorite starting Nov. 17. Find out who wins Dec. 15.
FINALIST PRIZE: Each Finalist who returns the fully completed and signed Affidavit and Releases will have: a portion of his/her video shown as part of a Purina® Dog Chow® brand Dog Food commercial during the National Dog Show on NBC on November 27, 2008; and his/her video, in original or edited form, incorporated into the Value Added Materials section of the Marley & Me DVD.
ROUND TWO JUDGING – INTERNET POPULAR VOTE: Up to twelve Finalist entries selected in ROUND ONE JUDGING will be posted to the Sponsor’s website at www.longliveyourdog.com/marleyandmevideocontest for popular vote. Everyone who submits a valid email address will receive three electronic ballots. Using these ballots eligible voters may submit three votes in any manner they wish. For example, they may vote for their favorite video three times, or they may distribute their votes among two or three videos. Cookies must be enabled for voting. Voting will commence at noon ET on Monday, November 17, 2008 and will end at 11:59:59 PM ET on Friday, December 5, 2008. Internet voting will count toward 10% of the total score assigned to each Finalist. The remaining 90% of the total score will be assigned as described in ROUND THREE JUDGING below.
ROUND THREE JUDGING: Each of the Finalist entries will be reviewed and judged by our spokesperson using the judging criteria listed above in ROUND ONE JUDGING. The scores assigned by the spokesperson will count as 90% of the overall final score; the remaining 10% will be determined by Internet popular vote as detailed above. Based on the combined scores of the ROUND TWO Internet Popular Vote (10%) and the ROUND THREE Judging (90%) one Grand Prize winner will be determined.
GRAND PRIZE: One Grand Prize winner will receive a “Marley & Me” Red Carpet Experience in Hollywood, California valued at $5900 including:
- Round-trip coach airfare for two from the major airport nearest the winner’s home
- Three nights double occupancy hotel accommodations at the historic Roosevelt Hotel
- Round-trip ground transportation from Los Angeles airport (LAX) to the hotel
- A private guided tour of Fox Studios
- Dinner for two at world famous Spago restaurant
- A limo tour of the Hollywood stars’ homes
- Two tickets to attend the premiere of the movie “Marley & Me”
- A miscellaneous expense allowance of $250.
