One Tank One Day – $1000 – Over 18 y.o. – Under 5 minutes – Due: January 31st, 2010

Create a short video about what can be done on a motorcycle or scooter with a single tank of gas in one day. In 5 minutes or less, show us what you would do, where you would go, who you would meet in one day on one tank.

If you don’t have access to a motorcycle or scooter, get creative! Use what you have: a bicycle with a cardboard motorcycle outline, animation, anything that will get your idea across. All we ask is that if you show a motorcycle rider or passenger, they are wearing protective gear – including a helmet, jacket, pants, gloves and shoes – and not breaking any laws. (more…)

Another Site Enters Online Video Product Placement Market

Product placement ads have long been the province of Hollywood movies and hit TV shows. Startup Tadcast aims to grab some of that glitz by creating a product placement marketplace for online video. The site would match marketers looking to place brands with independent video producers seeking to monetize content.

When launched, here’s how its product placement exchange would work: Advertisers will post information to Tadcast on a product, requirements for videos, and what price they will pay per thousand views. Video producers will browse the list of campaigns posted, choose a product that can be organically incorporated into the video (at the highest CPM), and then submit the video to Tadcast. (more…)

Pixsy Shares Video Ad Revenue with Content Producers

Video search engine Pixsy has developed an application that lets it share ad revenue with publishers from syndicated video content.  Premium Feed offers access to more than 50 million pieces of content from more than 3,000 owners. About 2 million licensed syndicated video clips have preroll and overlay ads that play back on publisher Web sites through an API that connects to the backend of nearly any video player.

The agreement negotiated with content owners pays a share of revenue to Pixsy and the publisher each time a video is watched, according to Chase Norlin, Pixsy CEO. “Now we’re making money on a service that we hadn’t before” he said. “Before, we just licensed video search to publishers that wanted to offer our syndicated content.” (more…)

The Case for Online Video

As audience demand for online video continues to grow, it presents the best opportunity to engage with audiences and capitalize on the Web’s direct-response capability.  In October alone, more than 77% of Internet users watched 13.5 billion videos online.  This represents a dramatic shift in how consumers are engaging with content online.  The continued proliferation of broadband Internet access and the maturing of the online video market will continue to drive these numbers higher.

With this massive demand one would think that marketers would be quick to embrace this growing trend.  But, most analysts concur, the video opportunity has yet to be fully realized.  However, with the rise of new, affordable production methods, big brands are beginning to leverage the power of online video.
