Each year, more than 827 million pieces of trash end up on Texas roadsides as litter, with most of it coming from car traffic. In order to reinforce the fact that trash belongs in a trash can, and not on our roadsides, the Texas Department of Transportation is proud to launch the Don’t Mess with Texas® Car2CanTM Video Contest. Submit your own homemade commercial, showing unique, fun and creative ways to get trash from the car to the can.
Remember, the deadline for uploading your video for consideration in the contest is June 28, 2009 11:59:59 p.m. CDT (Midnight). The contest is only open to Texas residents, aged 18 and older by June 28, 2009.
All Entries that meet the selection criteria will be posted on the Contest Web site for the public to vote, using a scale of 1-5. The public voting for Voting Segment 1 will take place during the Contest Period (5/1/09 – 6/28/09) by accessing the Contest Web site and following the voting instructions (by rating Entries based on a scale of 1-5).
A subsequent Voting Segment 2 will take place 7/6/09 – 7/17/09 by accessing the Contest Web site and following the voting instructions for Finalists.
Finalists, Grand Prize Winner and Runners Up will be selected by a combination of public voting and panel judging. Public votes (on a scale of 1-5) will determine 40% of a video’s eligible score, with the remaining 60% being determined by a panel of expert judges.
- Grand Prize: If selected as the Grand Prize-Winner, your video will premier during the commercial break of a major primetime show on network TV this summer! Your winning video may also be used as a Don’t Mess with Texas® Public Service Announcement (if appropriate).To throw the ultimate premier party, the Grand Prize-Winner will also receive a $500 Wal-Mart® gift card.
- Second Place: A limited edition Gibson Epiphone guitar, branded by Sweet Leaf Tea.
- Third Place: A Sweet Leaf Tea Prize pack, consisting of free tea and other cool branded merchandise.
