Chiller and Universal Studios Hollywood are partnering to recognize the nation’s top short-form filmmaking horror genre talent. Filmmakers have an opportunity to have their scariest short film rewarded with a TV broadcast of their work, a $1,000 cash prize and a trip for two to the October 2, 2009 opening night of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Contest is open only to permanent legal U.S. residents physically residing in the fifty United States and DC (residents of Guam and Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories outside the fifty states are excluded from entry and participation) who are eighteen years of age or older and have reached the age of majority in their state of residencevas of the time of entry. Submission period ends at 5:01p.m. PST on August 21, 2009.
Selected films will be judged by a panel of horror industry professionals. Criteria will be

storytelling skill,

originality and
-
the degree of the “good scare.”
The judges’ top 10 shorts will be posted here in September for public voting.
The winner selected will be designated as a the prize winner on September 28, 2009 and will receive a prize consisting of the following:
- 1) One Thousand dollars in the form of a check made payable to the Winner or in such other form as designated by Sponsors in their sole discretion
- 2) two tickets to the Eyegore Awards ceremony in Universal City, California scheduled to take place on October 2, 2009
- 3) travel to the awards in Universal City ceremony from within the continental U.S. and accommodations for two nights
- 4) Winner will be recognized with a presentation of an Eyegore Certificate. The Winner’s Short Film will debut in front of studio executives, celebrities and media that are in attendance at the Eyegore Awards and is scheduled to be broadcast on The Chiller Channel as determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion.
- 5) The Winner and his/her guest will receive two tickets to to enjoy 2009’s “Halloween Horror Nights” at Universal Studios Hollywood.
