Dust off your video cameras, call your boom guy, bring in the best boy and cast your comrades–we want you, filmmakers of North America, to direct our next music video as part of Pink Martini’s first ever Music Video Contest!

Pink Martini invites their fans to create a clever, inspired music video for the band for one of six songs from the new album Splendor in the Grass: “Ninna nanna,” “Ohayoo Ohio,” “Splendor in the Grass,” “Où est ma tête?,” “And Then You’re Gone,” or “Over the Valley.” You must be a resident of the United States, Canada or Mexico to enter this contest. Contest deadline is May 31, 2010.

Reel Insights: What’s Unique About Being Black? – $2000 – Over 14 y.o. – 3 to 5 minutes – Due: February 28th, 2010

Discussing race is awkward and often avoided. Though race clearly plays a major role in many individuals sense of self and to the dynamics of many communities, we’re often told to ignore it — to pretend differences among races don’t exist.
But they do. And this contest is designed to uncover the experience of one group: blacks (often called African-Americans in the US).  What does it mean to be black in 2010?  
This contest is open to all filmmakers, whether black or any other race, but the subjects of the films must be black.   (more…)

Can-Do Film Festival – Canon EOS 1D Mk IV HD DSLR – Open to all – Under 4 minutes – Due: March 20th, 2010

Submit a short four minutes or less movie shot ONLY on the Canon HD DSLR EOS 1D Mk IV, EOS 5D Mk II, EOS 7D or EOS Rebel T1i.
You can submit more than one movie and submit in different categories as long as each movie is registered first with a separate fee.
The short film can not be any longer than four minutes from start to finish …. if it is one second over the four minute limit it will be removed from the website.
The short can be submitted in one of ten different categories: Music Video, Spec Commercial, TV Show Teaser, Movie Trailer, Narrative – drama, sci-fi, horror, humor, romantic comedy, Documentary – people and places, Documentary – nature, Sports Event, Wedding Event, Military Services.
There will be four separate cross-genre categories:
Overall winner – story plus performance plus camera work plus wow factor!
Creative Inspiration – most unusual and original movie.
Visual Effects and Animation – cool use of EOS video technology.
‘Popular Choice’ winner – vote on Vimeo for your favorite movie.
Submission period ends midnight March 20th 2010.
