Youtube Monetization
YouTube is trying to harness search and paid video promotion to generate meaningful revenue. This is a good opportunity to work with small businesses to create video to improve SEO performance:
YouTube has been working hard to put small business tools into place and early signs are it is getting some search advertisers to buy campaigns on the video site. The site keeps a tight lid on revenue, but told Ad Age that “thousands” of advertisers are using self-service tools to advertise on YouTube each day. In the fourth quarter, paid clicks on promoted videos doubled from the prior three months.
ArtBeads.com started buying terms such as “how to make jewelry;” making sure his company’s how-to videos turned up in search results. Because ArtBeads.com is spending on YouTube, they get to add overlay ads to their videos that click through to their site.

Annoying Video Ads
Pre-roll ads may not be viable in the long term as the monetization method for short form video. About 16% of viewers click away from a pre-roll video ad rather than watch it to get to a video.
YouTube said “completion” rates for its newly-introduced pre-roll ads were about 85%, or roughly the same as TubeMogul’s figure. Notably, YouTube gives people the option to skip a pre-roll, while most publishers do not.
Video ad network YuMe has shown declining completion rates for video ads (more…)

Video Production Scheduling Tips
Another good Videomaker article out this week on how to schedule a video production. You might know what you want to shoot, but how long will it take to do it? This article is a quick read and will really help you create a simple shooting schedule:
You’ll greatly improve your chance of success – and save time, money and energy to boot – if you use the pre-production phase to craft a detailed plan of attack. If you take the time to create an accurate shot list, consider details like location availability, and fashion a shooting schedule accordingly, your shoot will go much faster and smoother – and your cast, crew and client will thank you for it. CareerBuilder Runs CGV Superbowl Ad
NYTimes ran an article about Superbowl ads – CareerBuilder is running video contest winner’s commercial:
THERE is nothing like the big matchups at the Super Bowl as powerhouse players go head to head. Among the best confrontations have been those between the job-search Web sites.
Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com are back for Super Bowl XLIV on Feb. 7. CareerBuilder will make its sixth appearance on Super Bowl Sunday, with a spot scheduled for the second quarter that is to be based on an idea submitted by a consumer in a contest called Hire My TV Ad.
CBS is charging an estimated average of $2.4 million to $2.8 million for each 30-second spot during the Super Bowl.
