We are sponsoring an environmental justice video contest that challenges amateur and professional filmmakers to create videos that capture the faces of the environmental justice movement. The Faces of the Grassroots contest is an opportunity to publicly exhibit creativity, environmental justice stories, and connect with others working to raise awareness of the movement. 
Faces of the Grassroots contest is an opportunity to:

Video meets Baby Boomers – $10,000 – over 13 yo – 3-5 minutes – Due: April 15, 2010

The LFMP ‘Video meets Baby Boomers’ is looking for some talented people to document how people 50+ interact with technology.   So grab your video camera and make a short documentary featuring yourself, family members, teachers or other acquaintances.  Is there a generation gap going on with technology?   What is the difference between how boomers use technology versus how teens and twenty-somethings use it?  Your film could be funny or scientific, but if it’s entertaining and insightful with a unique POV you could walk away with $10,000. Colorectal Cancer – $2500 – Open to all – 30 to 60 seconds – Due: March 31st, 2010

Welcome to the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada’s (CCAC) Public Service Announcement (PSA) video and print image contest! The purpose of this contest is to help raise awareness about colorectal cancer and how it may be prevented. Entrants are asked to submit their entries directly to our designated website page. The CCAC is proud to award a $2,500 prize to the 1st place winner of the Video PSA and $1,000 for the 1st place winner of the Print PSA!

Contest is open to all, regardless of age, gender or nationality.
All entries must be received by 23:59 Eastern Standard Time (EST) Monday, March 1st, 2010.
A panel of judges from Ogilvy Montreal Inc. will choose a winner from the top five entries voted on by the public on YouTube, from all of the submissions received during the contest prior to the deadline.
There will be one grand prize of two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500CAD), which will be awarded to the entrant for the winning video submission. The winning submission will have exposure on the CCAC website www.colorectal-cancer.ca and newsletter as well as at CCAC major events for a period of one year.

Farm To School – $1000 – Students only – 30 seconds to 3 minutes – Due: March 29th, 2010

Produce a 30 second to 3 minute video that informs, inspires, and encourages student advocacy to restore connections to community, food, land, and place through Farm to Cafeteria programs. It’s recommended to include the following elements:

1. What does real food mean to you?

2. How does what we eat affect our culture, health, economy, or environment?

BCCthis Video Contest – $3000 – Open to All – 10 Seconds! – Due: March 12, 2010

Bccthis is a Los Angeles based startup enabling new modes of messaging for email and Twitter.  They are looking for a 45 – 60 second spot that captures the essence of our company and specifically, the Bccthis for Outlook plugin.  For the purposes of this video, they are focusing in on the email product, a plug-in for Microsoft Outlook which allows users to send personalized notes to selected recipients in the To, Cc, or Bcc field.

For this project they are only looking for 10 seconds of the video. They want to work directly with you once you have been selected to create the rest of the video. This way you can show them your ability and the concept prior to having to create the remained of the video. (more…)

Everyone a Changemaker – $3000 – Open to all – 1-2 minutes – Due: March 7, 2010

Ashoka, GOOD, and GeniusRocket are partnering to develop a film which visualizes OR captures the sentiment of an Everyone A Changemaker™ world.  

Ashoka and GOOD are working to create a world where people are inspired and supported to create change. Ashoka does it with an emphasis on social entrepreneurship and building capacity for the citizen sector while GOOD is a media platform for “people who give a damn”.  They have partnered along with Genius Rocket to create a short video that embodies these values.

Ashoka envisions an Everyone A Changemaker™ world, where everyone has the self-permission to create positive change in their community, and where our collective intelligence and initiative will allow solutions to outrun the challenges we face.

They are open to a variety of approaches for the production of the video, but it should reflect the spirit of Ashoka: innovative; future-focused but historically aware; participatory; entrepreneurial and committed to quality. (more…)

Film Your Issue 2010 – Apple MacBook – 14 to 24 year olds – 1 to 3 minutes – Due: April 12th, 2010

We are seeking your innovative solutions to issues. We think that 14 to 24 year olds can offer a fresh, innovative approach to problem-solving. Specifically, we are looking for workable project ideas that can be locally launched that would tangibly tackle a problem. An example might be program or project in a city or town to deal with surplus cellphones, or with under-employed youth, or that would deal with national security or human rights.
Then submit your three-minute video to the Film Your Issue competition that both articulates the problem and proposes a specific project to deal with the problem. (more…)
