Students with a Cause PSA – Apple MacBook – Students Only – Under 30 seconds – Due: May 17th, 2010

Thousands of alcohol-related automobile accidents occur every year, and teens have higher than average alcohol-related injuries and deaths when compared to other age groups. Alcohol-related crashes are the second leading cause of teen death. Richard Harris Law Firm invites local high school students to create unique and compelling public service announcements (PSAs) that encourage fellow teens to abstain from underage drinking  and/or the dangers of drinking and driving.

Special Olympics – $1000 – Students Only – Under 3 minutes – Due: May 3rd, 3010

We want to see videos that capture the best moments of the Special Olympics.
What does Special Olympics mean to you? How has Special Olympics impacted your life, family and community? Submit your videos and photos in the Special Olympics Online Video and Photo Contest and share with us your Special Olympics story.
Video Categories
PSA: Create a short 30 to 60 second public service announcement
that uses the Special Olympics’ slogan, Be A Fan.
Vignette: Tell the story of an athlete, coach, family, volunteer or anyone else involved in the Special Olympics in a video up to 3 minutes long.
Music Video: Use music and visuals to make up to a 3-minute video that tells a story about the Special Olympics.

Farm To School – $1000 – Students only – 30 seconds to 3 minutes – Due: March 29th, 2010

Produce a 30 second to 3 minute video that informs, inspires, and encourages student advocacy to restore connections to community, food, land, and place through Farm to Cafeteria programs. It’s recommended to include the following elements:

1. What does real food mean to you?

2. How does what we eat affect our culture, health, economy, or environment?

3. Make the case for why your cafeteria should start or continue buying local food. (more…)

Diversity in the Law – $1000 Scholarship – Students Only – Under 3 minutes – Due: April 1st, 2010

In celebration of Law Day this May, the Massachusetts Bar Association is holding its first video essay contest on the topic of “Diversity in the Law.” Submitted video essays should be original, family friendly entries in any format, which may include dances, poems, skits or any other combination of images and words.

First Five Of My Life – $1000 – Students Only – Under 120 seconds – Due: March 15th, 2010

Submit a video on the topic “First 5 in My Life” that is no longer than 2 minutes (120 seconds) in length. Video should either:

1. “Tell Your Story” – Entrants choosing to create a film in this category will identify a First Amendment issue in their community (city, county, or state); conduct interview(s) to gather information about the issue they have identified; analyze First Amendment implications related to the issue; draw a conclusion; and persuade viewers to accept their conclusion.

OR

2. “Report A National Story” – Entrants choosing to create a film in this category will respond to a prompt provided my the Bill of Rights Institute about a current First Amendment controversy; inform viewers about the facts of the issue; analyze the constitutional question; draw a conclusion; and persuade viewers to accept their conclusion.

Texas Co-op – $1500 – Student Only – 1 to 3 minutes – Due: April 9th, 2010

“Co-op Teens Power Texas” is a statewide competition open to high school students residing with a parent or legal guardian in a household served by an electric cooperative. Participating students, either working alone or in a group, will create a one- to three-minute video providing information about a developing area of renewable energy.

OK, college students, this one’s for you. Where you do you learn the best? What makes for the perfect place to learn? Could be anywhere—it’s up to you. Herman Miller, Inc., invites you to answer the question “Where do you learn best?” in our first Student Video Contest. Give it some thought, have fun, be as creative as you want to be, put your answer in a video. Video submissions must be between 2-minutes and 3-minutes long.

Must be currently enrolled in a public or private school in Arkansas.  You are eligible to enter if you are in grades 9 – 12.
