The Enter the Battle of the Balls Video Contest is about creating an original, fun video that uses Ping Pong as a theme. The Ping Pong theme can be literal (e.g., as in playing a Ping Pong game on a table) or metaphorical (e.g., people “Ping Ponging” a conversation among each other).
Win a movie walk on role, an HD Video Camera, a Laptop Computer, a Ping-Pong Table and a Year’s supply of Butterfinger®!
Dust off those paddles, don your sweatbands, and get ready for your close-up, all you Ping-Pong fanatics! Butterfinger® and Rogue Pictures announce the “Battle of the Balls” – a new online video contest powered by Jumpcut, a Yahoo! company, to find the most clever and inventive video utilizing a Ping-Pong-based theme and the Butterfinger brand. This national contest (www.followthefinger.com/battleballs/) is being launched in conjunction with the upcoming release of Balls of Fury, the outrageous new movie comedy about extreme Ping-Pong. The winning viral video filmmaker will receive a walk-on role in an upcoming Rogue Pictures production, a year’s supply of Butterfinger candy bars and video production gear to jump-start his/her career in Hollywood!
Participants are encouraged to bring their “A-Game” and keep the content light and humorous while incorporating Butterfinger – the candy bar itself and/or the Butterfinger “Finger” icon – into the irreverent fun of the contest’s Ping-Pong premise. The theme can be literal (e.g., recreating a historic Ping-Pong battle) or metaphorical (e.g., people “Ping-Ponging” a conversation back and forth).
Participants must be 18 years or older to enter the “Battle of the Balls” contest by visiting www.followthefinger.com/battleballs/ and uploading and editing their original Ping-Pong-based video creations from July 10 through August 21, 2007. Judges will then narrow the contest submissions to a group of five finalists and post the top five viral video shorts on www.followthefinger.com. The public will then have the opportunity to view the five top videos from August 28 through September 18, 2007 and vote for their favorite film on www.followthefinger.com, while Balls of Fury (www.ballsoffury.com) opens in theaters nationwide on August 31, 2007. The “Battle of the Balls” grand prize winner will be announced around September 25, 2007. Butterfinger imagery and complete contest rules are available at www.followthefinger.com.
Judges will select five (5) finalists based on the following criteria: Creative Use of The Finger icon AND/OR Butterfinger® product 25%; Laugh Factor 35%; Originality 35%; and Quality of Production 5%.
The entry that receives the most votes by 11:59 p.m. ET on 9/18/07 will be determined the Grand Prize winner, and the remaining four (4) finalists will be determined as First Prize winners.
